Facebook Is Changing It’s Algorithm In 2015

By |2017-08-14T21:57:13+00:00May 1st, 2015|Business, WWW News|Comments Off on Facebook Is Changing It’s Algorithm In 2015

Yesterday, we posted about Google's 'Mobilegeddon' and the changing algorithm and optimization of mobile-friendly sites in search engines.  Today I came across another article from Contently called "What Facebook’s Algorithm Change Means for Brands, Publishers, and the Future of Media."  The article discusses changes in how Facebook is going to change it's News Feed.  The changes, according to Contently, are: 1. If your News Feed doesn’t have much on it (i.e., you don’t have many virtual friends or like many pages), Facebook is now allowing for “multiple posts from the same source in a row.” 2. After receiving feedback [...]

Google Launches “Mobile Friendly Algorithm” – What You Need To Know

By |2017-11-21T23:11:56+00:00April 24th, 2015|WWW News|Comments Off on Google Launches “Mobile Friendly Algorithm” – What You Need To Know

What's This All About!? This week, specifically on April 21, Google has started to implement a new algorithm specifically geared towards search engine results on mobile devices.  The easiest way I can explain it, is that Google is now checking to make sure websites are responsive (or 'mobile friendly'.) A responsive website is one that 're-aligns' itself based on the size of the screen.  Actually, if you take this screen (the one you're reading this on) and re-size the screen to a smaller dimension you'll see that it certain parts of the website 'shift' or change. The good news is that [...]

Apple Launched Apple Maps Connect

By |2017-08-14T21:34:51+00:00November 21st, 2014|WWW News|Comments Off on Apple Launched Apple Maps Connect

I've been a little slow with stuff lately, but I thought this one was important.  In late October, Apple launched Apple Maps Connect which is a business listing service.  Apple currently uses Yelp in conjunction with their Maps App.  By the looks of it, they might be trying to use their own proprietary business listing. I set up my account and it looks like it does actually take some information from Yelp to 'fill in the blanks.' If you're interested in Google Maps Connect and need help setting it up, feel free to contact us!

Wordpress just released it's latest version 4.0 titled "Benny" after Benny Goodman.  Check out some of the new features below (via Wordpress Blog.)  I've had a quick chance to run through it as I was writing this post and it seems like they made even more changes to help make publishing posts and page more quickly. Version 4.0 of WordPress, named “Benny” in honor of jazz clarinetist and bandleader Benny Goodman, is available for download or update in your WordPress dashboard. While 4.0 is just another number for us after 3.9 and before 4.1, we feel we’ve put a little extra polish into it. Instructions For Transferring Domains

By |2017-11-21T23:01:12+00:00February 15th, 2013|WWW News|Comments Off on Instructions For Transferring Domains

Transferring domains can be a daunting task, but if you can follow the process of what happens it may help in making the process a little less stressful.  There are 5 basic steps in transferring a domain name.  If you’re uninterested in the process and just want it transferred away from your current registrar (and hopefully to ours) you can scroll to the bottom where you’ll find links to specific instruction for moving your domain away from top domain registrars.  It can be a little frustrating and annoying but (most of the time) the first three steps are something [...]

By |2018-04-19T15:07:24+00:00November 27th, 2012|Business, WWW News|Comments Off on Web Content and SEO Integration / Optimization

The folks at Business Content always have great tidbits that I try to keep up on.  Today they had an article titled "How To Get Ahead Of Google Change."  For this article Business Content gave three tips for 'staying a head of the curve' when it comes to search engines: Write Content for Real People Make Social Media Work for You Write a Blog Before I even got to the article I started thinking about what I tell people about how we do SEO Integration at I Heart Blank.   It's a tricky talk partially because I don't want [...]

By |2017-08-12T05:30:57+00:00November 20th, 2012|Business, WWW News|Comments Off on .com? .net? .info? Deciding On Your Next TLD

Do you know what TLD is?  Don't be too embarrassed.  It stands for 'Top Level Domain' and to put it simply it's what comes after the "." in your domain name.  It could be a .com, or a .net...and even and .us.  If you'd like to be a nerd then you can find out more on Wikipedia.  You can also get a brief history of gTLD's (or Generic TLD's) that were first introduced in the 80's on the  ICANN website.  These included the ever popular .com, .net, .org, .edu, .gov, .int and .mil.   Enough about TLD's though, let's get [...]

By |2017-08-12T04:38:06+00:00October 17th, 2012|Business, WWW News|Comments Off on 24% Of Google Searches Are Local!

MarketingProf's had a very interesting article this morning about local search engine requests.  They even broke fit down into by search engines.  Local traffic from Google was 24.24%, Bing rang in at 28.8% and Yahoo was 25.28%.  The study was done by Chitika Insights.  No matter what type of business you have, if it's local you can bet people are searching for it on the internet.  So you might want to make sure your online presence is where it's suppose to be. One way you can help your presence stand out is to sign up for 'local specific' websites.  I've included [...]
