{"id":917,"date":"2012-10-30T14:58:15","date_gmt":"2012-10-30T18:58:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iheartblank.net\/old\/?p=917"},"modified":"2017-08-12T04:47:08","modified_gmt":"2017-08-12T04:47:08","slug":"report-proves-the-importance-of-blogging-plus-tips-for-maintaining-your-blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iheartblank.net\/old\/report-proves-the-importance-of-blogging-plus-tips-for-maintaining-your-blog\/","title":{"rendered":"Report Proves The Importance Of Blogging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketingprofs.com\/charts\/2012\/9218\/blogging-drives-leads-website-traffic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a> came up on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketingprofs.com\/charts\/2012\/9218\/blogging-drives-leads-website-traffic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marketingprof&#8217;s<\/a> today about the <strong>impact of blogging<\/strong> and the resulting <strong>website traffic<\/strong>. \u00a0Take a look at the graph below and you&#8217;ll see what I mean. \u00a0According to <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.hubspot.com\/blog\/tabid\/6307\/bid\/33742\/12-revealing-charts-to-help-you-benchmark-your-business-blogging-performance-new-data\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>HubSpot<\/strong><\/a> (via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketingprofs.com\/charts\/2012\/9218\/blogging-drives-leads-website-traffic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>MarketingProf&#8217;s<\/strong><\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>On average, companies that publish\u00a0<strong>15 or more blog articles per month\u00a0generate five times more Web traffic<\/strong> than companies that don&#8217;t blog at all, and <strong>those that blog 9-15 times per month generate three times more traffic<\/strong> than companies that don&#8217;t blog:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now that&#8217;s a huge difference and might be the answer for <strong>you<\/strong> to drive more people to <strong>your<\/strong> <strong>website<\/strong>. \u00a0The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketingprofs.com\/charts\/2012\/9218\/blogging-drives-leads-website-traffic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a> also shows some interesting statistics about <strong>social media<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Companies gain a\u00a0185% lift in Web traffic\u00a0after achieving 1,000\u00a0<strong>Facebook<\/strong>\u00a0likes.<\/li>\n<li>Companies with 51 to 100\u00a0<strong>Twitter<\/strong>\u00a0followers generate 106% more traffic than those with 25 or fewer followers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now that&#8217;s some very interesting stats. \u00a0Of course, these results don&#8217;t happen over night. \u00a0You and your business need to be patient and know the payoff will come in the future. \u00a0Unless you&#8217;re planning on going out of business in the next year you should have the time to gain the momentum you need.<\/p>\n<p>While the thought of <strong>creating 15 blog posts a month<\/strong> might make you cringe, it doesn&#8217;t (necessarily) mean that your business calls for it. \u00a0I try to recommend that people include a <strong>blog<\/strong> on their <strong>website<\/strong>. \u00a0As per usual, you have to be <strong>smart about it<\/strong> and, as importantly, <strong>know what you&#8217;re capable of<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Get Creative With Your Blog Content!<\/h2>\n<p>The thought of <strong>creating 15 blog posts<\/strong> will be time consuming, but there&#8217;s also the thought of, <em><strong>&#8220;What the hell am I going to write about!?&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> \u00a0There are some sources where you can <strong>pay<\/strong> for <strong>search-engine-rich-content<\/strong> for your <strong>blog<\/strong>. \u00a0If you don&#8217;t have that kind of cash laying around then it&#8217;s up to you! \u00a0But remember, and I&#8217;ve <a title=\"The Message Is Not The Medium\" href=\"\/the-message-is-not-the-medium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said it before<\/a>, you&#8217;re the <strong>master of your business<\/strong>. \u00a0You should know more about <strong>your business<\/strong> then anyone else <em>(that&#8217;s what should set you apart from the pack.)<\/em> \u00a0If you don&#8217;t, then you should at least have access to the answers&#8230;and\u00a0I&#8217;m pretty sure if I followed you around for a week I could point out at least a dozen subjects that would be <strong>perfect blog posts<\/strong>! \u00a0Therefore, you <strong>are<\/strong> a valuable tool to your <strong>customers<\/strong> and a great selling point to <strong>potential customers<\/strong>. \u00a0I even seperated part of this blog post. \u00a0Need <strong>inspiration<\/strong> and <strong>ideas<\/strong> for your next <strong>blog post<\/strong>? New!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>You Actually Have To Use Your Blog!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Now I&#8217;ve given you some great &#8216;getting started&#8217; <strong>blog ideas<\/strong>. \u00a0Just like you count out your drawers at the end of the day or check your <strong>emails<\/strong> in the morning, it&#8217;s important that you keep up with your <strong>blog posts<\/strong>. \u00a0You can do it on your couch when you get home or you can set aside some time to focus on your blog posts. \u00a0Remember that you&#8217;re <strong>building your business<\/strong> and that it&#8217;s up to you to make time to do that. \u00a0I usually find that once I get going I can&#8217;t stop&#8230;this post being a perfect example.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don&#8217;t be a\u00a0negligent\u00a0Nancy!<br \/>\n<\/strong>If your blog posts go unchecked and get neglected it can have very negative effect on your web traffic and organic search results. \u00a0Think about it&#8230;if you were to go to a website and the last update was 3 months ago your initial reaction might be that they don&#8217;t know what they&#8217;re doing&#8230;and worst case&#8230;that they&#8217;re out of business. \u00a0Don&#8217;t fall into these traps! \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Web_crawler\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Search Engine Robots<\/strong><\/a> check your blog for updates and if they don&#8217;t find any then they will &#8216;check your page&#8217; with less frequency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don&#8217;t forget that with many blogs you can schedule posts!<br \/>\n<\/strong>That means if you&#8217;re really on a roll writing a blog post or updating people about products or services you can set a date for that post to appear. \u00a0Many times I will cut a blog post in two (given there&#8217;s enough content) and schedule the other post for a week or two down the road. \u00a0It can save time and energy, especially if you know you&#8217;re going on a vacation or are going to get swamped in the upcoming weeks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You can write a blog post with anything.<br \/>\n<\/strong>Simply open up an <strong>E-mail<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/iwork\/pages\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Apple Pages<\/strong><\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/office.microsoft.com\/en-us\/word\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Microsoft Word<\/strong><\/a> and start writing a post that you can &#8216;copy and paste&#8217; later. My point is you don&#8217;t have to be in front of your computer to write a blog post. \u00a0You can even have a scratch piece of paper on your desk that you can write the <strong>ideas<\/strong> or <strong>titles<\/strong> of blog posts you&#8217;d like to write in the future. \u00a0The piece of paper on my desk is full of chicken scratch like, &#8220;blog: SEO tips in blog,&#8221; and &#8220;blog: master of your domain.&#8221; It&#8217;s simple, easy and effective next time I decide I need a new blog post.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Media Benefits&#8230;<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>WordPress<\/strong><\/a> can help you feed your <strong>social media<\/strong> sites. \u00a0With <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/plugins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>WordPress Plugin&#8217;s<\/strong><\/a> you can have your blog posts automatically feed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/iheartblankllc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Facebook<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iheartblankllc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Twitter<\/strong><\/a>. \u00a0\u00a0So while you&#8217;re creating rich content for your clients you can also keep up to date on your social media. \u00a0We can even <a title=\"Website Design\" href=\"\/services\/website-design\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">help you out<\/a> with it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Quantity Of Blog Posts Also Depends On Your Industry (and Time)!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Let&#8217;s be realistic. \u00a0If you&#8217;re a <strong>small business<\/strong> and it takes you between <strong>30 minutes<\/strong> and <strong>an hour<\/strong> to write a blog post, that means you&#8217;d be dedicating nearly a <strong>half of a week (a month)<\/strong> to updating your blog. \u00a0That&#8217;s a lot of time that I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;re thinking you don&#8217;t have. \u00a0While part of me wants to tell you to <strong>make time<\/strong>, the other part understands that there are more<strong> pressing issues with your business<\/strong>. \u00a0So be realistic with your &#8216;projected&#8217; blog posts&#8230;and make sure you stick with it!<\/p>\n<p>While I&#8217;ve given you a <strong>number of tips<\/strong> of what to write about I understand that every business industry is not as exciting as the World Wide Web. \u00a0If you&#8217;re in a doctors office or are a &#8216;crating &amp; shipping service,&#8217; you may not have all that much to talk about. \u00a0With some industries <strong>I believe that content is more valuable then quantity<\/strong>. \u00a0For other industries <strong>quantity is more important<\/strong>. \u00a0The important thing is to make the <strong>content relevant<\/strong> to your <strong>customers<\/strong> and <strong>potential customers<\/strong>. \u00a0Don&#8217;t just post for the sake of posting, people will get bored of it. \u00a0Be realistic, but always push yourself because you know it&#8217;s going to pay off.<\/p>\n<p>When I talk to a new or potential client I usually talk to them about how many blog posts I think they should post per month. \u00a0This always changes depending on the industry and the client. \u00a0I then ask them what they <em>think<\/em> they can do per month and I make sure they know the importance of maintaining it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>In Conclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Be good to your blog and it&#8217;ll pay you back in a big way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An article came up on Marketingprof&#8217;s today about the impact of blogging and the resulting website traffic. \u00a0Take a look at the graph below and you&#8217;ll see what I mean. \u00a0According to HubSpot (via MarketingProf&#8217;s): On average, companies that publish\u00a015 or more blog articles per month\u00a0generate five times more Web traffic than companies that don&#8217;t blog at all, and those that blog 9-15 times per month generate three times more traffic than companies that don&#8217;t blog: Now that&#8217;s a huge difference and might be the answer for you to drive more people to your website. \u00a0The article also shows  [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":8690,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7],"tags":[114],"class_list":["post-917","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-blogs"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Report Proves The Importance Of Blogging, Plus Tips For Maintaining Your Blog<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"A study from HubSpot shows that blogging can generate up to five times more traffic.
