be a little complicated. \u00a0Here&#8217;s some basic definitions to help you get started:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Storage Space<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Storage space is the amount of space you\u2019re allotted on the server. \u00a0You can think of it as your own personal hard drive on that server. \u00a0Files on your website, pictures, email and anything else associated with your website.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bandwidth<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Bandwidth is the amount of data that is able to be transferred (usually per month.) \u00a0For example, the home page of I Heart Blank is a little less than 1MB. \u00a0That means, anytime someone comes to I Heart Blank they are transferring 1MB of bandwidth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Computer Measurements \u2013 KB (Kilobyte,) MB(Megabyte,) GB (Gigabyte)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 \u2018bytes\u2019 are measurements of files. \u00a0They measure how big or small a file is on your system. \u00a0The size of your storage space is measure this way. \u00a0The measurements (pretty much) are measured using the metric system. \u00a01000 Kilobytes equals 1 Megabyte (and so on and so forth.)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1,024 KB = 1 MB (Megabyte)<\/li>\n<li>1,024 MB = 1 GB (Gigabyte)<\/li>\n<li>1,024 GB \u2013 1 TB (Terabyte)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now, these numbers mean nothing without being put into context. \u00a0So, think about a music mp3 on your computer. \u00a0An mp3, on average, takes up about 4MB on your computer. \u00a0If you have 1GB of storage space \u00a0you will be able to store (about) 250 songs on that hard drive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sub-Domains<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Sub-domains are a way to organize your website. \u00a0For example, if you have a website that has a shopping cart in a section, you can set up a sub-domain to easily organize your website (ie \u2013 shop.iheartblank.net, or test.iheartblank.net.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Add-On Domains<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Add-On domains are additional domains your can link to your hosting account. \u00a0The most common reasons to utilize an add-on domain are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To simply utilize a different domain name that goes to your site. \u00a0For example, if you go to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/hackettstownwebsites.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hackettstownwebsites.com<\/a>\u00a0you\u2019ll see that it just leads to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iheartblank.net\/old\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iheartblank.net<\/a>. \u00a0I did this to make it easier when I was making some radio announcements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>To set up different email addresses. \u00a0Typically used if you\u2019d like to create email addresses that aren\u2019t your \u2018main domain name.\u2019 With an Add-On Domain, you can have your website at www.site1.com, but your email addresses at johndoe@site2.com.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>To point to a specific page on your website. \u00a0I\u2019ve done quite a few promotions through I Heart Blank. \u00a0One of the most popular is the\u00a0<strong>Going Social Media Package<\/strong>. \u00a0Instead of direction people to a long URL in my website is created it has to be stored somewhere. \u00a0Technically, you can store your website on your computer, but whenever someone visits your website it\u2019s going to use the resources (CPU &amp; RAM) on your computer. \u00a0There is also a question of how fast the internet is at your house. \u00a0At the \u2018dawn of the internet,\u2019 \u00a0a solution was found to have a data center that is full of computers (or servers) that websites are stored on. \u00a0These data centers have all the \u2018works\u2019 including a temperature controlled environment, generators, and very very fast internet connections.<\/p>\n<p>When you buy hosting you\u2019re technically renting space on one of those computers. \u00a0You\u2019re renting a certain amount of space and bandwidth a month that
